Searching
Searching can be a bit of an art, and it may take more than one try to get the results you want. You can choose between the Search or the Advanced Search.
Search
Search scans all the judgments in the database for a word, words or a phrase that appear anywhere in that judgment.

Simply type the word into the box in the right of the header and click on the Search button.
To search for multiple words, enter each of the words separated by an AND or OR, depending on if you wish to find only documents that contain all of the words (by separating the word with an AND) or any of the words (by separating the words with an OR).
To search for a literal phrase, enclose the phrase in quotes.
Advanced Search
The "Advanced Search" allows you to search for specific words, dates or texts within different parts of the judgments.
To search for specific words or phases within the judgment, simply enter the words or phases in theSearch forbox. You can also search for specific case name, catchword, party, coram, delivered date, case type or legislation in addition to that.
TheSearch optionsmakes your search more comprehensive in that you don't need to have the exact spelling for your search item.
Word Variants- This option finds words with the base word + certain suffixes. For example, a search for "swim" will also find "swims," "swimming," "swimmer," and even "swimmed." It will not find the variation "swam," however, because the base word has changed, or "swimmet," or "swimsed" because the suffixes are not acceptable with that word.
Fuzzy Search- This option finds documents that have matches similar to your search. eg searching for Califronia when the fuzzy search option is on will find California
Simple enter all the search criteria then click on the Search button.
